School Council News:
Our School Councillors have had an incredibly busy start to the Summer 2 term! To commemorate D-Day, our children from Years 1-6 performed a brilliant assembly to our KS2 children. This included fascinating information, facts and engaging videos all about the momentous, historical event. The children were enthralled to see footage of the Red Arrows and a drone display that took place in Portsmouth. Additionally, our councillors recorded a poem called 'D-Day Heroes' by Roy Palmer. All of the children had a speaking part and spoke with enthusiasm! Miss Shervell and teachers were incredibly proud of their efforts.
We have also launched another project marking Bitterne Park's Active Journey to School in June. This new campaign encourages all children to take advantage of the sunny, summery weather and scoot, walk or cycle to school. This is part of our travel plan and project working towards a safer school crossing. Each child has been provided with an 'Active Journey Tracker' card to monitor their progress. School Councillors are in charge of monitoring their class mates' progress and rewarding their peers with stickers and house points at the end of each week. Good luck, Bitterne Park!
