Year 2 blog:

Year 2's start to 2025 has been out of this world! Quite literally... because we have been designing our very own star-catchers, which can help make your dreams of owning a precious star come true! We have been writing a persuasive advert to describe how our inventions transport you to space, attract the stars and embrace the stars, keeping them safe and protected on their journey back to Earth.

After securing our addition and subtraction learning, we have now moved onto 2D and 3D shapes. We have been retrieving our previous Year 1 learning, whilst also exploring some other properties that we can use to describe 3D shapes, such as their vertices and faces. We have loved going on shape hunts around our classroom and school to see which ones we can discover!

In Geography, we have travelled to warmer climates, where we have been learning all about the tropical island of St. Lucia. We used our map skills to discover that it is located north of South America. We then began to make predictions about what St Lucia might be like based on its location. For example, we inferred that it will have lots of beaches because it is an island and it will have a tropical climate because it is near the Equator. As we begin to uncover more through our topic, we will see if our predictions are correct!
