Music Festival:

On Monday 17th June, music could be heard all around Bitterne Park as our children took part in our Music Festival, accompanied by the “Discover the Music” band.

Showcasing the culminations of their work from across the academic year, the children radiated enthusiasm throughout. The afternoon began with our youngest children singing “What would you do with a lazy pirate?”, before our older children took centre stage to demonstrate their talents with reading music.

From 180 recorders being played by Years 1 and 2, through to guitars, clarinets, trumpets and glockenspiels in Years 3 and 4 and ukuleles in Years 5 and 6, the talent was superb. We were even treated to some fantastic electric guitar playing, accompanied by a flute and violin.

Our school singing club got involved, delighting us with two of their favourite songs: “Never Enough” and “Revolting Children”, which featured some confident solo performances and the drumming club enthusiastically performed their version of “Uptown Funk”, which thoroughly entertained the audience!

The celebration ended with the whole school singing “Oh when the Saints…”, where the children sang in a four part round.

The children should be very proud of their achievements!
