Year 6 Devon Adventure:

Day 2

After a great first night’s sleep, the children have had a thrilling second day here at Skern Lodge! The luscious cooked breakfast certainly set them up well for the activities today. From seashore trails to kayaking and surfing, all the children have had beaming smiles on their faces throughout the day!

Carrying the heavy (and slightly awkward!) kayaks down the steep steps to the waters edge didn’t phase our children, as they jumped on and headed along the river, using the current to aid their speed. Also, whilst out on the water, the children really demonstrated their balance and coordination, attempting to stand on their surfboards and catch the waves.

A real highlight for some of the children today was finding clams and holding crabs on our seashore trail. They spent ages searching the shoreline for sea glass and found some other fantastic gems too. A group of children even built a sculpture out of stones almost as tall as themselves!

Dinner tonight was delicious again: sweet and sour chicken, nachos and gnocchi were on the menu, followed by ice cream and waffles, which really proved to be popular!

Our day culminated with wide games on the field or a campfire. The children were so exhausted by the end of day, but the smiles continued to radiate!
