Cross Country Championship Successes!
Some children from Years 3 to 6 have been representing Bitterne Park Primary School in the Lower and Upper School Cross Country Championships. These events have taken place at Southampton Sports Centre and the children were really excited to wear their Bitterne Park running vests and represent our school. Both the boys and girls ran incredibly well in both championships and we have had some fantastic results, including three of our children taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Upper Boys event, out of almost 100 children, meaning the team came 1st overall! The girls performed just as strongly, securing 4th place. What an achievement from all of our competitors! Everyone should be very proud of their achievements!
Quotes from the children:
"I enjoyed the weather even though it was muddy and it wasn’t like a park run - it was different and hilly so it gave me a bit more of a challenge. I had a goal in mind to strive towards which helped me during the race." - Poppy
"We enjoyed running on the course as it was hilly and quite challenging. We liked the fact that the event was well-organised and friendly. We also enjoyed competing with our friends and sharing the same interests with them." - Charles, Jacob and Olive.
"We loved competing against other schools and having the competitive element to it. We enjoyed running with our friends and liked travelling on the minibus to represent BPPS outside of school." - George, Henry and Jenson
Parent Feedback:
"Our boys both really enjoyed participating and representing the school and we could see lots of other smiley faces too."
"It was a very positive experience all round."
"I wanted to email this evening to say an enormous THANK YOU for organising a team to take part in the School's Cross Country events. Our daughter has had simply the best day! Her first words this morning when she woke up were, "This is the best day ever! I'm doing Cross Country!" She was also extremely excited to go in the minibus! She was very, very proud to get to represent her school in a competition and was proud to wear the Bitterne Park vest! Please do pass on our thanks to the staff. You have made our little girl's (and our) weekend"
