Safer crossing campaign
Our safety matters! In July 2022, members of our school council wrote to local Bitterne Park councillors to begin communication about the crucial need for a safer school crossing on Manor Farm Road. We received a reply from councillor Tony Bunday over the summer break and we are excited to share an update about our current progress.
On Friday 25th November 2022, councillors Tony Bunday and Ivan White were invited into school during our morning drop off time to observe the busy rush. We really wanted them to appreciate how much we care about our safety when so many of us walk to school or need to cross Manor Farm Road. Following this, they heard the opinions of all of our children, shared by a group of year 5 and 6 school councillors. The meeting was productive and the school council voiced the concerns that many parents and children in our school community share. They are very proud of their efforts and feel very passionate about making a difference for the whole school community.
We now look forward to kickstarting our campaign to raise awareness based on the advice provided by our local councillors. We will post regular updates on the school website to communicate our progress with this important project.
