Year 6 Councillors

On Wednesday 11th January 2023, our Year 6 school councillors attended a conference at Holy Family Catholic Primary School. The focus of the meeting was to discuss our upcoming 'passport to primary school' project. 

Firstly, we used the findings from surveys that were carried out by all of our Bitterne Park school council members during the Autumn term to identify common trends and gaps in our data. The statistics that we analysed were from activities on the government 'passport to primary school' as a baseline for our initial research. 

Before lunch, the children generated ideas and activities that they felt every child should experience by the end of Year 6. The children used books, laptops and research to support their proposals. Some of the ideas included camping, making a sandwich and visiting a theatre. 

During our afternoon session, the children presented their ideas to the rest of the partnership Year 6 school councillors with reasons that their activities should be considered. All children spoke confidently and represented Bitterne Park with pride!
