Year 5 blog:

ear 5’s Exciting Trip to the Welsh National Opera

On Friday, Year 5 went on a fantastic trip to the Welsh National Opera at the Mayflower theatre! We were excited to learn about the different instruments in the orchestra. We learnt that each instrument within the orchestra helps to tell the story in the opera. For example, the violins might play soft, high notes to sound like laughter, while the drums create a loud, deep sound.

The best part of our visit was joining in with a song about a storm. We used body percussion—like tapping our fingers, clapping, and stomping our feet—to make the sound of rain and thunder. It felt like we were part of the orchestra, making the storm come to life!

We can’t wait to bring back some of these new skills to our music lessons at school!
